  • Where to Find Characters at Magic Kingdom

One question many Disney visitors have is how to find characters at the Disney Parks. This post is a guide to where to find your favorite characters at Magic Kingdom.

Even though character interactions may seem like they’re just for children, they’re fun for people of all ages – including full-grown Disney adults like me! So don’t be afraid to grab a photo with Mickey, Minnie, or any of your favorite characters, even if you’re traveling without kids.

    Different Types of Character Interactions

There are several different types of character interactions you can experience at each of the Disney theme parks.

    • Traditional Character Meet and Greets – You’ll get to talk to the characters, take photos, and often they will sign autographs.
    • Character Sightings- These are typically distanced interactions where you will not be able to get autographs.
    • Parades and Cavalcades – You’ll see many characters but won’t get much individual interaction.
    • Character Dining- You’ll get plenty of quality time with the characters at your dining experience, but these can be expensive.

Character Meet and Greets and Character Sightings

Magic Kingdom has a lot of different characters you’ll have a chance to see during your visit.  Most of the character meet & greets can be found in the My Disney Experience App, so you’ll be able to see the characters available that day and where they will be located.

Below are some screenshots to show how you can use the app to see what characters are available on the day of your visit.

Here is a breakdown of the different characters located in each of the other lands of Magic Kingdom.

    Main Street USA

First up is meeting the one and only Mickey Mouse at Town Square Theater. Bear in mind that without using Lightning Lane, this attraction’s wait time can be long. This is the perfect opportunity to snap some photos and collect autographs from the mouse that started it all.

Not only can you meet Mickey Mouse at Town Square Theater, but you can also meet a Disney Princess right on the front porch. Although Snow White is a frequent visitor, other princesses may also make an appearance.

    Adventureland

You can spot Captain Jack Sparrow in Adventureland, where he can usually be found wandering around. Look for him across from the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. Additionally, you can find Aladdin and Jasmine across from the Magic Carpets of Aladdin ride.

    Aladdin and Jasmine

    Frontierland

Although there are no usual Meet & Greets, you can still see the country bears from the Country Bear Jamboree show from a distance in Frontierland.

    Liberty Square

Liberty square doesn’t have any meet & greets or character sightings at this time.

    Fantasyland

Fantasyland has the most characters, and Princess Fairytale Hall is a Princess Fairytale Hall is very popular stop when it comes to characters On one side, you’ll be able to see Cinderella and a visiting princess, and on the other side, you’ll see Tiana and a visiting princess. The matchups are usually Cinderella and Elena of Avalor and Tiana and Rapunzel. But there have been other princesses from time to time.

Another popular meet and greet that offers a lightning lane is Meet Ariel at Her Grotto. This is located right next to Under the Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid.

    Ariel at her grotto

You can find another character experience at Enchanted Tales with Belle, located near the Be Our Guest restaurant at Maurice’s cottage. This walk-through experience allows guests to participate in the Beauty and the Beast story. There is a brief photo opportunity with Belle at the end, with a photo pass photographer available.

If you’re heading towards the Mad Tea Party from Cinderella’s castle, you can stop at the Fairytale Garden to meet Merida, take a photo, and snag an autograph. However, starting this fall, the Merida meet and greet will be replaced by Mirabel from Encanto.

Peter Pan can often be spotted wandering around Fantasyland, close to the Peter Pan’s Flight attraction.

Winnie the Pooh and Tigger can be found in Fantasyland near the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh attraction, where they occasionally sign autographs.

    Winnie the pooh and tigger

And you can also meet Anastasia and Drizella behind Cinderella’s castle. They sign autographs, and there is sometimes a photo pass photographer available as well.

At Fantasyland’s Storybook Circus, head over to Pete’s Silly Side Show to catch Goofy and Donald on one side and Minnie and Daisy on the other. Don’t forget to visit Chip and Dale, who are signing autographs toward the back of Storybook Circus.

    Tomorrowland

In Tomorrowland there are a couple of character sightings. Buzz Lightyear and Stitch can be found at the Rocket Tower Plaza stage. You can interact with them and snap some photos, but they don’t do autographs.

    buzz lightyear

    Parades and Cavalcades

Parades and cavalcades are a great way to see a lot of characters at once.  You won’t be able to get an autograph or have much individual interaction, but you’ll have an opportunity to see many of your Disney favorites in one place.

You can check out the parade and cavalcade times in your My Disney Experience app.  Instead of choosing characters from the top of your map screen, you’ll select entertainment from the drop-down menu.

    Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade

The Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade features nearly 30 different characters. Here are some of the characters you’ll find.

    • Moana
    • Pocohantas
    • Elena of Avalor
    • Merida
    • Characters from the Incredibles
    • Mirabel
    • Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps from Zootopia

    And many others!

    Festival of Fantasy Parade

    festival of fantasy parade

The Festival of Fantasy parade is currently Magic Kingdom’s featured parade. You can view the parade route in your My Disney Experience app. Keep in mind that Main Street isn’t the only location to watch the parade from, so take advantage of the other options available to you.

You can also use Genie+ to reserve a lightning lane for the specially reserved parade viewing area near the hub in front of Cinderella’s Castle.

The parade features bright and elaborate floats as well as many different characters. Some of the characters that can be found are:

    • Beauty and the Beast
    • Cinderella and Prince Charming
    • Anna and Elsa
    • Tiana and Prince Naveen
    • Characters from Tangled
    • Characters from The Little Mermaid
    • Characters from Peter Pan
    • Merida
    • Characters from Sleeping Beauty
    • Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
    • Characters from Alice in Wonderland
    • Goofy, Pluto, Daisy, and Donald
    • Mickey and Minnie

    Character Dining

Character dining is a great option for those who want to spend quality time with specific characters. Luckily, Magic Kingdom offers several popular character dining experiences to choose from.

    Cinderella’s Royal Table

Cinderella’s Royal Table is a popular character dining location inside the castle, which is pretty amazing. You will have the chance to meet Cinderella and other princesses, which can vary but may include Ariel, Aurora, Jasmine, and Snow White. Keep in mind that this is a highly sought-after reservation, so be sure to mark your calendar for the 60-day booking window if you hope to secure a spot.

    Be Our Guest

Another popular dining experience is Be Our Guest, where you can dine at the Beast’s castle. Although Beast makes an appearance, it’s not considered character dining since he doesn’t visit individual tables.

The French cuisine may not be a hit for picky eaters, and it can be expensive. However, enjoying the castle’s ambiance and trying the famous grey stuff makes for a one-of-a-kind experience.

    Be our guest

    Crystal Palace

Last up is Crystal Palace, where you can dine with Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore and Piglet. They have a lunch and dinner buffet, and this is a great option if you are a fan of these characters.

There are also several character dining options outside the Magic Kingdom in the surrounding area resorts.  You can find a post with all the current character dining options here.

    Conclusion

Magic Kingdom never fails to inspire wonder and magic. One of the most exciting aspects of exploring the park is discovering characters along the way.

Whether it’s your favorite princess, or the lovable Mickey Mouse, there’s something for everyone. So embrace your inner child and enjoy meeting these characters on your next visit to Magic Kingdom.

  • The Best Spots to Take a Break at Disney World

There are a lot of different ways to do Walt Disney World. Every group is different, and there are so many options when it comes to making a trip your own and adding in those things that are going to make it feel magical to YOU. But one of the top pieces of advice that I think rings true for every group is to make sure that you are planning enough time for breaks throughout your days.

Those breaks can look different for different people. Sometimes that may look like a full rest day, sometimes it might look like taking a midday break back at your resort. But whether or not you choose either of those strategies, I also think it’s really important to have a plan for ways to take a break while you are inside the parks.

In this post, I’m giving you a breakdown of the best places to take a break at Disney World.

Best Spots to Take A Break at Magic Kingdom

Magic Kingdom is arguably the park that creates the most sensory overload.  It has the most attractions, and it can be overwhelming if you’re trying to do everything. The good news is there are actually a lot of great places to take a break while you’re visiting. Here are some of my favorites:

    Carousel of Progress

The Carousel of Progress is a great attraction to take a break in Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom . It’s basically a big rotating theater that takes you through different time periods, showcasing how technology has evolved over the years. You follow the same family throughout the different scenes and see how their lives change with the times. But beware, the theme song might be stuck in your head for days!

    Peoplemover

The PeopleMover at Magic Kingdom is one of my favorite rides that takes you on a leisurely tour of Tomorrowland. You get to sit back and relax while you soak up the sights of the futuristic landscape. Plus, it’s a great way to take a break from all the walking and standing in line. Just hop on and enjoy the ride!

    Hall of Presidents

The Hall of Presidents at Magic Kingdom is where you can get up close and personal with some of the leaders in American history. You can sit back and relax while you watch the animatronic presidents come to life and tell their tales. It’s a must-visit spot if you’re looking to take a break at Magic Kingdom!

    Mickey’s PhilharMagic

Taking a break at Mickey’s PhilharMagic in Magic Kingdom is a great way to relax and enjoy some air conditioning. You get to sit down in a comfy seat and watch a fun 3D show with Mickey and his friends. Plus, the theater is usually not too crowded, so it’s a nice escape from the busyness of the park.

    Tom Sawyer Island

Tom Sawyer Island is an often overlooked spot that is great for taking a break. The island offers a chance to relax, enjoy nature, and escape the crowds and noise of the park. Visitors can sit on benches and watch the river go by. It also offers space for little ones to run, climb, and explore.

Seating Area near the Tangled Bathrooms

If you’re looking for a spot to sit and relax where you can also charge your phone, you may want to check out the seating area near the Tangled bathrooms. There’s also a cute little scavenger hunt here where you can find the hidden Pascals.

Best Spots to Take a Break at EPCOT

EPCOT is probably my favorite of the Disney parks. But there is a lot to see and do, and there is a LOT of walking. But between rides and quieter spots throughout the World Showcase, there are plenty of spots to take a break and rest.

    Living With the Land

Living with the Land offers a relaxing boat ride through greenhouses showcasing sustainable agriculture and innovative farming techniques. It’s part dark ride and part educational boat ride. It’s a peaceful ride away from the crowds and noise of the park, making it a perfect spot to unwind and recharge before continuing your EPCOT adventure.

    Spaceship Earth

Spaceship Earth is another ride that provides a great chance to take a break. It’s a slow-moving ride that takes you through the history of human communication and technology. The ride is inside the iconic sphere, and provides a cool and relaxing atmosphere.

The Seas with Nemo and Friends

Another great attraction that I recommend when you’re looking to take a break at EPCOT is The Seas with Nemo and Friends. It features a ride that takes visitors on an underwater adventure with Nemo, Dory, and their friends. The ride ends at a big aquarium you can explore while you enjoy the air conditioning. While you’re there you can also check out the free scavenger hunt.

    Playground near Creations Shop

Another great spot to take a break that is often overlooked is the outdoor playground near the Creations shop.  This can be a lifesaver especially if you have little ones who need some space to run around and play.

    Gran Fiesta Tour

If you’re looking for a spot to take a break while you’re touring the World Showcase, one of my favorite rides is the Gran Fiesta Tour inside the Mexico pavilion.  This is another boat ride that provides an opportunity to sit down and enjoy some cooler air.

    The American Adventure Pavilion

Another good spot to take a break in the World Showcase is the American Adventure Pavilion. The pavilion is air-conditioned and provides plenty of seating. You can also check out the American Adventure show while you’re there.

Best Spots to Take a Break at Hollywood Studios

Hollywood Studios is a busy park with many attractions that tend to have long lines. It can be a little more challenging to find a place away from the crowds to take a break, but there are some great places if you know where to look.

    Baseline Taphouse

One of my favorite spots to take a break at Hollywood studios is Baseline Taphouse.  You can grab a drink and a snack, and enjoy their outdoor seating area. It’s a great spot for people-watching, and they have a good beer selection.

Beauty and the Beast Stage Show

The Beauty and the Beast stage show provides a chance to relax and enjoy a great performance. You can sit back and enjoy the singing, dancing, and costumes while taking a break from walking and waiting in lines.

    Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular

The Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular at Hollywood Studios is a live-action show featuring thrilling stunts and special effects inspired by the Indiana Jones film franchise. You’ll have the chance to sit down in a large theater and enjoy the show. I recommend picking up a drink and a snack to enjoy while you’re there.

    Muppet Vision 3D

Muppet Vision 3D is a great attraction to enjoy when you need a break from the heat of the day.  It’s held in an air-conditioned theater, and the wait times for this attraction tend to be low. I usually recommend visiting during mid-day when crowd levels in the parks, and temperatures are high.

    Star Wars Launch Bay

Another area that is great for avoiding crowds and heat is Star Wars Launch Bay.  Here you can explore exhibits featuring props and memorabilia from the films. The best part is this spot is hardly ever crowded, and it’s a great place to enjoy some air conditioning.

Best Spots to Take a Break at Animal Kingdom

    Finding Nemo show

Animal Kingdom is a large park, with a lot of walking.  So it’s wise to plan time for breaks in your day while you are there. Here are a few of my favorite spots to rest while I’m exploring Animal Kingdom.

Finding Nemo: The Big Blue…And Beyond

If you’re looking for a break from the hustle and bustle of the park, don’t miss Finding Nemo: The Big Blue…And Beyond stage show. Relax in the comfortable theater as you watch delightful puppets of your favorite characters accompanied by some great music. The show runs multiple times daily, so check out the schedule on your My Disney Experience app.

    Nomad Lounge

The Nomad Lounge is a cozy and relaxing spot to enjoy drinks and small bites. Located by the entrance to Pandora – The World of Avatar, the lounge features indoor and outdoor seating with views of the park’s lush scenery. The menu offers a variety of unique cocktails, beer, and wine, as well as small plates inspired by flavors from around the world.

    Rafiki’s Planet Watch

If you’re searching for a way to unwind during your visit to Animal Kingdom, consider taking the train to the Conservation Station and Rafiki’s Planet Watch. Not only does the location offer plenty of things to do and air conditioning to keep you cool, but the train ride itself is an enjoyable break.

That wraps up my list of the best places to take a break while you’re at Disney World. Leave a comment and let me know your favorites or any that didn’t make my list.

  • TRON Lightcycle Run Guide

In case you haven’t heard, there is a new ride at Walt Disney World, and that is Tron: Lightcycle Run.  In this post,  I’m breaking down all the things you need to know about this long-awaited attraction coming to the Magic Kingdom. What is it? Where is it going to be located? How you can ride it- all the good stuff.

    What Is Tron?

Before we get into the nitty-gritty of the ride details, here’s a little background on TRON itself.  If you’re like me, you may not be familiar with the story of TRON. This ride is based on the TRON film franchise. The first TRON film came out in 1982 and starred Jeff Bridges as the main character, Kevin Flynn. I’m not going to give you any spoilers because I recommend checking these films out, especially if you are planning to take a trip to Disney World to ride TRON. Basically, Flynn is a video game maker who hacks into his company’s system and is transported into the digital world known as The Grid.

In 2010 TRON: Legacy was released. The main character of this film is Sam Flynn, who is the son of Kevin Flynn.  He also gets transported into the Grid for some adventures. If you do decide to check out these movies on Disney +, there is also an animated series called TRON: Uprising that you can check out as well.

There is also another film in the works titled Tron: Ares. This film is supposed to start filming in the Summer of 2023 and be released in 2025.

    What is TRON Lightcycle Run?

    Tron Lightcycle Run

The story of Tron Lightcycle Run, the ride itself, takes place after TRON: Legacy. The story is that you’re transported to the grid for a light cycle race against an enemy team.

Now that you have a bit of the story, let’s get into the details of the ride itself. TRON Lightcycle run was set to open on April 4th at Magic Kingdom, but Disney announced there would be a soft opening between March 20th and April 2nd. This ride has been a long time in the works. It has been under construction since 2018.

TRON Lightcycle Run is located in Tomorrowland right near Space Mountain. There are two entry points to the attraction – one from Tomorrowland near the Space Mountain gift shop, and another in Fantasyland near the back of Storybook Circus.

The ride is a steel motorbike roller coaster. It’s the same ride as the original, which is in Shanghai Disneyland.  That version of the ride is called Tron Lightcycle Power Run.

The ride will use a Virtual Queue that works the same way as we have seen with other new rides at Disney World. The virtual queue will open up at 7 am and 1 pm each day. If you’re trying to join the 7 am queue you’ll need to have a Magic Kingdom park pass reservation, but you can be located anywhere when you are joining the queue.  For the 1 pm queue, you’ll need to have scanned into the Magic Kingdom for the day in order to join the queue.  This will also be a ride that offers an Individual Lightning lane, which is the pay-per-ride option.

TRON Lightcycle Run is a unique ride in a lot of ways. One of those ways is that it’s the first ride at Walt Disney World that requires loose items to be stored in lockers. There will be free lockers available, and they will need to be used for anything larger than a phone. You will be able to tap your park ticket or magic band to open the lockers. There is a small compartment on the ride vehicle for small things like your phone or sunglasses.

    TRON Lightcycle Run Ride Vehicles

    Tron Lightcycle Run

The ride vehicles are unique as well, they are motorbike-style vehicles. The closest thing you’ll find at Disney World would be the vehicles for Flight of Passage at Animal Kingdom.  When you’re boarding the ride you’ll climb onto the bike as you would a regular bike and then rest your shins on the leg brace and lean forward. There are restraints that hold you in place.

There’s been a lot of talk about the ride vehicles not being size inclusive. There are test vehicles outside of the ride for you to test out to see if it’s a good fit. One thing to mention is that for most people who have had trouble with comfort, the issue seems to be more the calf restraints than it is a chest or waist area issue.

There is a modified ride vehicle available which is like a typical roller coaster seat. It’s an upright seat with a lap bar. So that is an option if the regular vehicles won’t work for you. Those seats are limited so it might just be more of a wait, and you’ll want to check in with a cast member.

The ride has a 48-inch height requirement, which is on the high end for Disney attractions. The only other ride at Disney World with that height requirement is Rock N Roller coaster.  This is also the fastest ride at Magic Kingdom with a top speed of 59 miles per hour.  The ride itself is short- only about a minute long.

For those who are wondering if the ride is going to be too intense for them – it’s considered to be the most intense ride at Magic Kingdom. It’s compared in intensity to Rock n’ Roller Coaster and Expedition Everest, with those two rides considered more intense than TRON. These conversations are always subjective because everyone is different. One thing to note is that this ride does not go upside down, and there are no major drops.

If you’re nervous and want to know as much as possible about what the ride does, I recommend checking out POV ride videos on YouTube to give you a better idea.  Sometimes that can help to ease some of the anxiety of the unknown.

    Conclusion

Overall, this is an exciting addition to the Magic Kingdom. It fits well with the theme of Tomorrowland, and it’s another thrill ride in a park that offers a lot of different levels of attractions. Even if this ride is not your thing,  it’s another option to spread out the crowd in Magic Kingdom. It will be interesting to see whether Seven Dwarfs Mine Train will also still be an Individual Lightning lane attraction or if it will move to be a regular Genie Plus attraction.

If you have a trip coming up and you get to ride I would love to hear what you think. Leave me a comment and let me know how your experience was.

  • 2023 EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival Guide

Springtime at Walt Disney World is one of the most beautiful times of the year. One of the major highlights of the season is the EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival. If you’re looking to see and experience the spring season in all its glory, this festival is a must.

In my opinion- Flower and Garden is the best festival of the year because it’s just so beautiful. It’s got the best of all worlds, it’s got food booths, it’s got flowers, it’s got colors. What is not to like? In this post, we will give you a complete guide to the 2023 EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival.

Scavenger Hunts at Flower and Garden Festival

No EPCOT festival would be complete without a scavenger hunt to keep you (and the kids) busy while you’re touring the World Showcase.  The Flower and Garden festival just happens to have two for a portion of 2023.

    Spike’s Pollen-Nation Exploration

To participate in this fun scavenger hunt, you can purchase a map for $9.99 at several different merchandise locations.  You’ll be searching for Spike the bee all around EPCOT.  Once you complete your hunt you can turn in your map at World Traveler or Disney Traders for a surprise.

    Egg-Stravaganza Scavenger Hunt

Because Easter falls during the Flower and Garden festival there is also a second scavenger hunt that is available starting March 13th.  It works the exact same way except you are looking for oversized Disney character-themed Easter Eggs.

EPCOT Flower and Garden festival is one of my favorite times to visit Walt Disney World. Since this festival lasts several months, there is plenty of opportunity to plan a trip to coincide with the festival dates.  Just be sure to plan ahead for crowds, especially if you’re planning to visit the festival on a weekend.

  • EPCOT Festival of the Holidays 2022

The holiday season is one of the busiest times of the year at Walt Disney World. Across the resort, there are parties, events, decorations, and other holiday festivities to enjoy. In this post, we will give you a complete guide to EPCOT’s holiday celebration, the International Festival of the Holidays.

What is EPCOT’s International Festival of the Holidays?

EPCOT’s Festival of the Holidays is a celebration of the season from around the world.  It’s the shortest of all of the EPCOT festivals, and this year it runs from November 25th through December 30th.

Unlike Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom, there is no additional charge to attend this festival. All you need is a park ticket and a park pass reservation.

There are, of course, opportunities to purchase holiday foods, drinks, and merchandise, but the event itself is free. Here’s a breakdown of what is included in this holiday celebration.

    Holiday Kitchens

Of course, we’ll start out with my favorite- the food! Similar to the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival, you’ll be able to sample culinary treats from around the world at different booths throughout the World Showcase.

Each night there are three different showings typically at 5:15 PM, 7:00 PM, and 8:00 PM. The processional lasts about 40 minutes. The lineup of narrators for 2022 is below.

    Candlelight Processional Dining Packages

There are dining packages available where you can purchase a meal that also includes a guaranteed seat at the Candlelight Processional for that evening. Each package includes an appetizer, entree, dessert OR buffet where applicable, and a non-alcoholic beverage. The restaurant options and pricing is listed below.

If you don’t have a dining package you would need to line up early to try to get a standby seat. The seats that are included with the dining packages are not assigned seats, so if you’re wanting to snag a good seat you may want to line up early even if you do have a ticket.

    Holiday Storytellers

Throughout the World Showcase, storytellers share tales of the season from their respective areas of the world.  The lineup of storytellers you’ll find is listed below.

For each one you find, you will add a sticker to your map.  Once you have a completed map you can turn it in at one of the shops for a prize.

    Holiday Cookie Stroll

Another one of my favorite activities at the festival is the Holiday Cookie Stroll.  You can purchase a holiday cookie at several locations around the World Showcase.  For each cookie you try, you’ll receive a stamp. Once you collect five stamps, you’ll be eligible to receive a complimentary specialty cookie.

    • Joyful – a mix of Gospel and R&B featuring holiday songs located at the World Showcase Plaza
    • Voices of Liberty – this a capella group typically perform Christmas carols at the Americans Garden Theater.
    • Mariachi Cobre – A festive holiday performance located in the Mexico pavilion
    • JAMMitors – You can catch our favorite musical group at EPCOT performing Christmas songs

Throughout the holiday season, you’ll be able to stop in and say hello to Santa at the Odyssey Pavilion.

    Gingerbread Capitol City

In the American Adventure pavilion, you can stop to see this amazing Gingerbread display of some of the most famous landmarks in the United States.

    Holiday Ride Overlays

Similar to Magic Kingdom, there are a few attractions in EPCOT that will receive a holiday overlay.

Living with the Land will transform into Living with the Land Merry & Bright Nights. The decorations include holiday decorations and festive lights.

We’ve also received news that Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will get a brand new holiday overlay. Once we have more details on what is included, we will keep you updated.

    Character Meet & Greets

Throughout EPCOT you’ll be able to spot some of your favorite characters dressed in holiday attire. Most of the princesses you usually find in the World Showcase are wearing Christmas accessories. Characters like Winnie the Pooh and Joy also have some holiday flair added to their usual outfits.

As you can tell, there are a lot of holiday extras that you can experience during this EPCOT festival.  I recommend allowing yourself some time to really explore and enjoy the seasonal additions if you are visiting during the holiday season.

  • Ultimate Guide to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party 2022

As the holiday season quickly approaches, Disney is gearing up for one of the most popular times for visitors. And even more exciting for 2022 is the return of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.

If you’ve never experienced this event, this post can help you decide if it’s something you want to add to your trip.

What Is Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party?

For those who are not familiar, Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party (MVMCP) is a special event that takes place at Magic Kingdom on select nights from November 8 to December 22.

From 7 pm till midnight, the park is only open for party guests. Those attending will get special wristbands when they enter.

How Much Does Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party Cost?

Ticket prices range from $149 to $199 for MVMCP tickets depending on the date.   Annual Passholders and DVC members can save $10 per ticket, valid for select event nights. Below is the pricing chart for the 2022 MNSSHP season.

What Does Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party Include?

Along with the holiday music and decorations, including snow on Main Street, there are plenty of activities and entertainment to enjoy at the party. Here are some highlights of what you can expect.

    Character Meet and Greets

    Mickey and Minnie Christmas Party

Minnie’s Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks show!

This show is hosted by Minnie Mouse and features a selection of holiday songs, festive projections, and, of course, fireworks!

Mickey’s Once Upon A Christmastime Parade

Tips for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party

The main focus of this holiday party is to just enjoy the festive atmosphere and have fun. But here are a few tips to be sure you’re getting the most out of your party time.

    • Eat dinner before the party begins so you don’t waste valuable party time, and can focus on fun and snacks
    • Plan to watch the second parade viewing.  It is usually less crowded.
    • Don’t waste party time doing regular things you can do on a normal day. This includes rides that don’t typically have a wait and character meet and greets that are always available.

Is Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party Worth It?

You may be wondering if MVMCP is worth the cost.  It’s really going to depend on a few factors.  It is certainly not cheap, and the cost can add up quickly for large families.

The party hours are pretty late, so families with small children or those who struggle to stay up late may not find value in paying all that money to attend.

That being said, if you are someone who really loves Christmas, this party is really festive and a lot of fun. If you arrive at the Magic Kingdom at 4 pm, you are getting 8 full hours of park time.

You could save on the cost of a regular park ticket for that day and do some activities outside the parks before heading to the party. You could enjoy your resort, visit Disney Springs, or go on a Resort tour to see the Christmas decorations.

Have you been to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party? Leave me a comment and let me know what you think.

  • What to Do When It Rains at Disney World

Nobody wants to think about it raining on their dream vacation to Disney World.  But the fact of the matter is the weather in Orlando can be unpredictable.  And during certain times of the year, you might see rain in the forecast for every day of your trip.

But that doesn’t mean your vacation is ruined.  With a little planning, you can be prepared for whatever Mother Nature decides to throw your way. Here are a few tips on what to do when it rains at Disney World

This post may contain affiliate links. If you purchase an item through one of my links, I will earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.

Prioritize Outdoor Rides Early in the Day

If there is rain in the forecast, it’s a good idea to prioritize any rides that may potentially close due to weather.  While there are many rides and attractions you can enjoy in  the rain, there are some that will close down.  Here is a list of attractions in each park that may close when it rains.

    Magic Kingdom

    • Astro Orbiter
    • Barnstormer
    • Dumbo
    • Tomorrowland Speedway
    • Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
    • Splash Mountain
    • Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
    • Liberty Square Riverboat
    • Magic Carpets of Aladdin
    • Tom Sawyer Island
    • Swiss Family Treehouse

    Epcot

    • Test Track

    Hollywood Studios

    • Slinky Dog Dash
    • Alien Swirling Saucers

    Animal Kingdom

    • Kilimanjaro Safaris
    • Kali River Rapids
    • Expedition Everest
    • TriceraTop Spin

If you have a Genie+ reservation, and the attraction is closed due to weather, you should receive a “multiple experience” return pass to choose another ride.

    Pack for the Weather

I highly recommend packing rain gear in your park bag. Here are some of my favorite items to prepare for the rain.

    Ponchos

If it’s not raining too hard you can just throw on some ponchos and continue your day.  Bringing your own ponchos can save you from spending a fortune in the stores inside the parks.  I also recommend bringing a Ziploc bag to store your wet ponchos when you’re finished.

Check out the ponchos we get here

    Umbrellas

Umbrellas can be difficult to carry through the park crowds, especially if it’s windy.  But if you do want to bring an umbrella I recommend one that is super compact.  It can also be helpful in providing some shade if you are in a long outdoor line.

Check out my favorite umbrella here

    Waterproof Shoes

I like to wear or pack flip-flops or waterproof sandals to avoid having wet socks.  They have to be comfortable since we do a ton of walking.

The most comfortable sandals I have found are here

    • Dumbo’s Indoor Playground
    • Monster’s Inc. Laugh Floor

    • Hall of Presidents
    • Carousel of Progress

I hope this post was helpful.  Let me know in the comments what your favorite rainy day tips are.

  • Ultimate Guide to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party 2023

The weather has been proving that we are still squarely in the midst of summer, but I’m feeling all the fall vibes as Disney World gears up for its spooky season.  Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is set to start on Friday, August 11th.

After being replaced last year with Disney After Hours Boo Bash, Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is back this year and fans are rejoicing.

This is one of the most popular holiday events at Disney World. If you are trying to decide whether or not you want to attend the party this post will give you all the dates and details you need to make your decision.

What is Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party (MNSSHP)?

In case you’re wondering exactly what MNSSHP is, it’s a special event held on select dates after Magic Kingdom closes for the day.  It does cost extra, so even if you have a park pass reservation to spend the day at Magic Kingdom, you will need to purchase a separate ticket to participate in MNSSHP.

As the name implies, it’s meant to be “not so scary” so that children of all ages can participate in the fun.  Assuming they can stay up late enough, that is.

What are the dates for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party?

The party runs from 7:00 PM to midnight. Ticket holders will be admitted to Magic Kingdom park as early as 4:00 PM. These date-specific event tickets do not require an additional day theme park ticket or theme park reservation. Party dates are listed below.

    • August 2023: 11, 15, 18, 22, 25, 29
    • September 2023: 1, 4, 8, 10, 12, 15, 17, 19, 22, 24, 26, 28, 29

Ticket prices range from $109 to $199 depending on the date when purchased directly through Walt Disney World. Annual Passholders and DVC members can save $10 per ticket on select party dates.  Below is the pricing chart for the 2022 MNSSHP season.

    What is included?

    • Trick-or-Treat Throughout the Park: Collect some candy as you tour the park

    • Mickey’s Boo-to-You Halloween Parade: See your favorite characters aboard Halloween-themed floats

    • Disney Junior Jam: Dance party for the little ones

    • Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular: Some great entertainment with the Sanderson Sisters

    • Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular: Fireworks display hosted by Jack Skellington from The Nightmare Before Christmas

    • Interactive Photo Locations: Special Photo Pass locations

    • Rides and Attractions: Enjoy your favorite rides and attractions; some include a Halloween overlay.  Attractions included:

    Adventureland

    Frontierland

    Liberty Square

    Fantasyland

    Storybook Circus

    Tomorrowland

Another one of the highlights of MNSSHP is that all guests are able to wear costumes.  You can view Disney’s costume guidelines here.

    Available Extras

    • Halloween Merchandise– Some special Halloween merchandise is only available during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party.

    • Halloween Treats– I recommend finishing your dinner before the party begins, but there are some amazing Halloween treats and snacks that are available for purchase.  Some treats are only sold during MNSSHP.

    • Dessert Parties- These parties are only available on MNSSHP nights.  In my opinion, these are not worth the additional cost if you are attending the party.  But if dessert parties are your jam here are your options:

    • Mickey’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular Dessert Party at Tomorrowland Terrace– $114 (including tax and gratuity) for Guests ages 10 and older; $69 (including tax and gratuity) for Guests ages 3 to 9
    • Mickey’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular Dessert Party with Plaza Garden-$99 (including tax and gratuity) for Guests ages 10 and older; $59 (including tax and gratuity) for Guests ages 3 to 9

Is Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party Worth It?

There is definitely a lot to see and do at MNSSHP, but the tickets are pretty pricey. The cost can really add up, especially if you are in a larger group. If you are a Halloween lover I would say it may be worth the splurge.

In order to get the most value for your money I would recommend getting to the park as early as possible, and staying for the full length of the party.  If you are not a night owl, and you’re concerned about staying till midnight, you may want to skip this one.

Leave me a comment and let me know if you have been to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween party.  If so, what is your favorite part?

  • 10 of the Best Things to do at Disney Springs

If you’re looking for a break from the Disney theme parks, spending some time at Disney Springs is a great choice. Disney Springs itself is a free place to shop, eat, and play.  Some of the activities they offer are free, and others have an extra fee.

Here are my tips for the 10 Best things you can do at Disney Springs.

Taste different sodas at the Coca-Cola Store

    Coca-Cola store

The Coca-Cola store has a rooftop bar where you can enjoy views of Disney Springs and sample different flavors from around the world.

Create a custom mini figure at the Lego Store

The Lego store at Disney Springs is pretty amazing.  Not only do they have incredible Lego displays that serve as great photo ops, but you can also make your own mini figure. You can choose from many different designs and decorate your figure with a custom design.

Take a ride in an amphicar

    amphicar

The amphicar tours at Disney Springs are a pretty unique experience.  In fact, it’s the only place they are offered in the world.  The 20-minute tours run from 10 am-10 pm on a first come first serve basis.  The cost is $125 per car, and cars hold 3-4 people. It’s a great way to sit back, relax, and view Disney Springs.

Create your own treat at Goofy’s Candy Co.

    Goofy Candy Co.

At Goofy’s Candy Co you can choose from a caramel apple, marshmallow, Mickey rice Krispie treat, or a chocolate cake pop.  Your treat is then dipped in white or milk chocolate and topped with your choice of sprinkles, nuts, peanut butter, yogurt chips, or mini marshmallows. It’s a fun activity, especially for kids.

    Go to happy hour

One of my favorite things to do is to visit one of the bars or restaurants in Disney Springs for an afternoon happy hour.  In particular, I love Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar.  It’s an Indiana Jones-themed restaurant with some great drinks and appetizers. My favorite snack is the Air Pirate loaded cargo pretzel. Some other great choices to create your own happy hour are:

    • Raglan Road
    • House of Blues
    • Wine Bar George
    • Terralina

    Get cookies at Gideon’s bakehouse

If you are looking for some huge and insanely delicious cookies, Gideon’s is your place.  They also offer giant slices of cake and some of the best cold brew.  My favorite is the peanut butter cold brew. Because it’s such a popular place they do get really busy.  I recommend going early before they open to get in line.

    Enjoy a delicious meal

    Boathouse Disney Springs

Some of the best restaurants on Disney property can be found at Disney Springs. You almost can’t go wrong with any of them, but here is a list of some of my favorites.

    • Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’
    • The Boathouse
    • Raglan Road
    • Morimoto Asia

In addition to sit-down restaurants, there are plenty of delicious quick service options. You can also often find food trucks available with some unique and tasty options.

    Ride the Aerophile Balloon

Another unique experience featured at Disney Springs is the Aerophile balloon ride.  The 8-minute balloon ride is $25 for adults ages 10 and older and $20 for kids ages 3 to 9. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. The views are incredible. The ride is not offered during storms or high winds.

Try a wine slushie at Amorette’s Patisserie
